The Chains of Catholism
To all the practicing Catholics, my sincere prayer is that you may read this post with an open mind, and I pray the Holy Spirit may convict you to the truth of the Living Word of God, the Holy Bible. The inerrant Word of God. The ultimate authority. Heaven and earth will pass away but the Word of God will never pass away.
Before I delve into this topic I would like to first state that this is a very sensitive topic and will disrupt some of your held belief system since childhood. My goal at the end of this post is for any practicing or professing Roman Catholic to finally break those chains of bondage and live in the wondrous freedom that Jesus Christ gifted us.
I also understand that some people are practicing catholics because it helps them to be spiritually disciplined; like observing lent and the often really good prayers of the catholic church to our Father and Lord Jesus only. However, I truly believe that once God removes all the scales from Your eyes you will have no affiliation with a church that teaches such contradictory doctrines from the Holy Bible.
To delve into my story; I was born, water baptized as a baby, confirmed and raised in the catholic faith till I came to the United States at 15. I attended an all-girl catholic boarding school for 5 years. I went to mass 4 times a week plus Sunday benediction, and I still didn’t know God or Jesus. I never heard the saving power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I only recently found out what the catholic sacrament of confirmation meant. And to think I have pictures of my confirmation at 13!
I remember going for confession to a priest and receiving prayers to cleanse me. Looking back at how sinful I was, I should have been given 100 Our Fathers, 50 Hail Mary’s and 30 Glory to God prayers if I was honest with the priest.
I remember during lent; the nuns would force us to kneel on gravel and participate in the arduous stations of the cross. I vividly remember dreading the lent period because I didn’t understand the reasoning for that.
And while in boarding school, religion was used as punishment. I remember being told to write out a significant portion of the Old Testament in my notebook as punishment. This led me to believe God is a big angry God ready to punish me. Oh what a wrong assumption of our loving God who wants to heal.
Moreover, when it came to the nuns, my child-like mind could not reconcile how mean the nuns were compared to what I had always thought of nuns to be; kind, gentle and loving. Manifestattions of the Holy Spirit within true believers…
As a catholic, there were so many burdening mass rituals to remember. I remember being so hungry during mass and while in church; because growing up, one wasn’t allowed to eat anything prior to taking communion. Catholics and all their legalistic rituals oh my!
On to praying the rosary repeatedly. Let me just say this, if you pray the rosary, you’re practicing idolatory and God hates idolatory as He is a jealous God. The effectiveness of prayer is not by how many times one repeats a prayer. Matthew 6:8-10 in the Living Bible version says, “Don’t recite the same prayer over and over as the heathen do, who think prayers are answered only by repeating them again and again.”
I was never encouraged to read the Bible growing up in the Catholic church and I didn’t even know who the Holy Spirit was until I got saved last November, 2022. Tragic.
The third person of the Holy Trinity wasn’t talked about as far as I remember. I didn’t even know about gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Not knowing God’s Word and being ignorant to the fruits of the Holy Spirit led me to an abusive ungodly marriage which was meant to kill me.
Oh, the guilt and shame over my sins and the fear I carried kept me in chains, until God’s marvelous Grace found me and freed me! Praise God!!!
Ok that was the appetizer, now onto the entrée.
I will address Catholic doctrines and speak of their falsehood, and I shall back it up with overwhelming clear Biblical scripture. None of this will be my opinion but God’s TRUTH from His Word. The Word of God is the absolute truth and when it comes to disproving catholic doctrines, it provides irrefutable evidence. It baffles me that the catholic church can hold on to beliefs that are unbiblical and blatantly deceive so many people. It really boils down to most Catholics not reading their Bibles and the church not encouraging them to, of course.
1. Works based salvation, the doctrine of mortal sins and being able to fall away from God’s Saving Grace.
Let us look at the following Bible verses which prove the point that we are saved only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross and resurrection for the glory of God. We could never earn or lose our salvation. ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED IS BIBLICAL! Anyond telling you any different wants to keep you in bondage unintentionally or unintentionally. Salvation is a GIFT from God that we don’t deserve. Therefore, I repeat, ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED is Biblical truth. This is the only way we can truly understand and grasp the profoundness of His amazing saving grace to us sinners and display the Beatitudes in our lives. Romans 8:38 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The catholic church has people believing that they have to try daily to attain the standards of the 10 commandments. This is futile because the whole point of Jesus’s coming to earth and dying for our sins was to accomplish the law (the commandments) and establish a new age of grace, a new covenant. Moreover, no one can achieve righteousness in God’s eyes by striving to keep the law (10 commandments). We all fall short of God’s Glory as His Word says. More on this later.
It breaks my heart that catholics don’t get to enjoy the freedom and joy for which Jesus died. God’s standard is perfection and we as sinful humans can never achieve this. Thus, anyone thinking they can please God or try to attain or maintain their salvation though works is greatly deceived.
Ephesians 2:8-9 ‘For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not because of works, so that no one may boast.” IT IS A GIFT FROM GOD AND OUR LOVING FATHER DOES NOT GIVE GIFTS AND TAKE IT AWAY. WE AS SINFUL HUMANS WON’T EVEN THINK OF GIVING A GIFT AND ASKING FOR IT BACK LATER. WHAT MORE OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER WHO LOVES HIS CHILDREN?!
Galatians 2:21 “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
Romans 11:6 “But if it is by grace, it is no longer based on works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.” GRACE IS UNMERITED FAVOR AND KINDNESS
Acts 13:39 “and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.”
Galatians 2:16 “nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified (Made right with God aka salvation) by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law, since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
2 Timothy 1:9 ‘“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.”
Titus 3:4-5 “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not based of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.”
James 2:10-11 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.”
Aka if you are trying to enter heaven based on your works or the “good things” you do, and you haven’t always abided by all the 10 commandments since you were born, you are guilty, and heaven is forever barred from you. God’s standard is perfect so a failure to meet that is an eternal offense against a Holy God.
This used to be me, I would say to myself that “well I am not that evil as I haven’t done heinous crimes, but I also know I am not that good all the time so maybe I’ll go to purgatory (more about the heresy of purgatory later). It is embarrassing to even think I once believed that. Thank God God’s grace penetrated my sinful hardened, self-righteous heart and showed me the WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE giving source in His Son Jesus. The Holy Spirit led me to work in a maximum security male prison to drive home this point.
God best describes our works of righteousness to earn salvation or fear of losing salvation best in Isaiah 64:6 “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment.” OUCH! Yap filthy rags in His sight.
Romans 3:20 “Because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. The reason God gave mankind the 10 commandments was to show us just how sinful we are and how so far off we are to meeting God’s perfect standard.”
Prior to the 10 commandments (God’s Law) the Israelites didn’t know what sin was, though they were destined to die physically due to the wages of sin being death. So, whether they were aware or not doesn’t change the fact that they were sinning against our Heavenly Father. Now for those of us who have been justified by the precious Blood of Christ, sin no longer has power over us so when we now sin, we can see that we have sinned against God, and we run to Him in confession and repentance asking for His forgiveness and He promises to wash us clean as is written in 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
My prayer is that You truly believe this because this is straight from the Bible, which is the Living active Word of God, the inerrant Truth that will never pass away even if heaven and earth pass away. John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. Matthew 24:25 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.'“
If there is still 1% of you that still thinks you are a good person let me tell you that if you are not yet born again by God’s Holy Spirit you are evil in the sight of God. But let’s see what God has to say about it:
Romans 3 10-26 “As it is written “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law (10 commandments) is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”
Titus 2:11–14 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”
Therefore, it is only by the grace of God and the power of His Holy Spirit that can help us keep His commandments which are summarized as loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and loving others as a result of this. This doesn’t mean we can meet His perfect standard; we will still sin but as the Holy Spirit transforms us to be more like Christ, we will sin less and less and love more and more as time goes on. All this is not to say that since we are saved by Grace and can’t lose our salvation, it gives us license to keep sinning. Those that have been born again understand how much of a wretched sinner we are and grasp the depth and meaning of Jesus’s sacrifice for us. We will NEVER take this grace for granted but instead will desire wholeheartedly to live godly lives and loving others as Jesus commands and enables us to. This is why the Beatitudes (Check out Matthew 5:2-12) should be evident in anyone’s life who says they are a true born-again follower of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us immediately we believe (heart trust) the GOOD NEWS: Salvation is by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus alone for our salvation. God sent His only son Jesus to be born and crucified for our sins. He was crucified, died was buried and rose on the third day conquering death and granting eternal life to those who trust in Him alone for their salvation. Repentance must occur in concordance with saving faith That is the GOSPEL message. Now we are reconciled to the Father because Jesus made this possible. No greater love exists!
You need to TRUST this in your heart and let all the striving cease, abandon all your self-righteous “Christian” deeds to earn your salvation or to keep you away from God’s impending wrath. Jesus said “It is Finished”. Realizing that we are saved ONLY by God’s grace makes the born-again believer weep bitterly over our sin and cry for joy simultaneously that we were once condemned and now are saved from eternal hell, free from condemnation by the precious blood of Jesus! Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Trusting the Good News is the only way we can truly glorify God for His amazing grace.
A deep, profound love of God flows from this realization and our hearts are filled with eternal thanksgiving. Hallelujah! It is an indescribable experience when God’s Holy Spirit comes to take residence in your heart. There is no fear in all of this but unexplainable fullness of joy. A peace that surpasses all understanding. An overwhelming kind of love. The two greatest commandments left by Jesus were to:
Examine yourself honestly because your eternity in heaven or hell depends on this. Are you born again? John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
Are you truly saved and reconciled to God? Do you know Jesus intimately? Are you scared of Christ’s return or are you eagerly awaiting it? Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 8:23 “And not only this, but also, we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.” Romans 8:19 “For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.”
Do you hunger and thirst for Him and His righteousness? Does your soul dread that day of His second coming or does your heart long for it like a deer pants for water? Do you truly understand why God’s grace is so amazing and why you need a Savior? If you died tomorrow, are you confident that you will be with Jesus in heaven forever? If you can’t answer that question with a resounding YES, then pray and ask God to save you and to reveal if you have truly believed the Good News and surrendered your whole life to Jesus. Repent and cry out to God for mercy and to offer you salvation. Surrender your life, your will, goals, ambitions, plans and everything in you to Jesus and commit sincerely to following Him daily no matter the cost. I pray that our gracious God may hear the cry of your heart and send His Holy Spirit to live in you, transforming you to mirror the image of His precious Son from glory to glory.
“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now i am found, was blind but now I see”
I had sung and heard that song so many times prior to being saved in 2022 but it wasn’t until I got saved that I grasped the true depth of God’s love for me and just how truly amazing His grace is and the heavy price that was paid on the cross for me. Grace that I can’t even wrap by human mind around or start to comprehend. Holy Saving Grace.
Are you simply religious and don’t have a personal intimate relationship with Jesus? Christianity is a relationship, not religion remember this. Christianity is not about rituals and traditions like the catholic church beckons,
I love you all so much and I pray again that if you haven’t yet put your trust for salvation, for eternal life in Jesus’s finished work ALONE on the cross, may today be the day you believe and receive the good news and experience the true love and freedom found only in Jesus Christ. Amen. Seek God sincerely with all your heart and He promises in His Word He shall reveal Himself to you.
This brings us to the end of point #1. it was lengthy because I needed to lay this solid foundation to build on it to address upcoming points of why catholic doctrines are NOT biblical.
2. Confessing to a priest
Nowhere in the Bible is this alluded to. Catholics will defend this and say they are confessing to God and not to the priest. If that is the case who gives the priests the authority to tell you what to pray and how many times to pray it for forgiveness of sins? I remember being in a catholic boarding school and going for confession regularly due to it being mandated. Fear was my motivating factor; I didn’t want to go to hell, so I was sure to “go for confession” as required in case I died in unconfessed sin and condemned myself to hell. I remember I would be so scared that if I died without having confessed to the priest, hell was sure waiting for me. Oh, the bondage I was in! I chuckle at all the Our Father’s, Hail Marys and Glory be prayers I prayed throughout my catholic years. Just because a prayer is repeated continuously doesn’t make it more effective. Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Jesus is our only High Priest and the only one who intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one can come to the Father except through me" John 14:6 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:2
Now when I sin, I run to God and lay at His feet mourning over sinning against His Holiness. I am truly sorrowful over my sin, and it is not shame and guilt and fear that make me confess and repent from my sins, it is my love for God and wanting to please Him that makes me profess to be a sinner. I will be nothing without His love, grace, and mercy upon my life.
3.Ruled by fear versus love: Catholics believe in mortal (deadlysins. They believe that there are some sins that if someone fails to confess before they die, they would be condemned. The Bible talks only of one unforgivable sin which is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31 “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” Jesus said this when the pharisees were saying that all the miracles and casting demons out and healing were by the power of Satan, therefore they were rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’s life. They were rejecting Jesus as the Son of God, the Lord of all and Savior of the world. That is the only unforgivable sin mentioned in the Bible. In fact, the Bible goes on to offer us comfort that absolutely nothing can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:38 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
So, this means that even if you commit suicide (God forbid), you WILL NOT be separated from God’s love for you in Christ Jesus as it is written. You will NOT losr your salvation because it is dependent on Jesus’s perfect sacrifice on the cross. God is always faithful to His promises.
All sins lead to physical death and eternal spiritial death unless raised up from the grave by Jesus’s precious Blood.
4.Praying to Angels/Mary
Catholics get very sensitive when their worship of Mary is challenged. God favored Mary to bring forth Jesus. She was used as a vessel. She was indeed blessed and highly favored by God but she is not the “Mother of God” as catholics endearly refer to her. She waas a siiner like us all in need of saving Grace by Jesus’s death on the cross. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary or that Mary is interceding for us in the Presence of God. I have read the whole New Testament and researched this. Catholics basically idolize Mary; they revere and pray to her for intercession. To put in frankly, praying the rosary is simply idolatry of the heart. Having a statue of Mary in your house or pictures of her all over your office is idolatry.
I remember in my boarding school, there was a statue of Mary on the hill that we often knelt in front of to pray. I don’t ever remember dong this on my own volition as with many other things in I did boarding school.
There is also no mention in the Bible to pray to angels. 1 Corinthians 6:3 Don’t you realize that we will judge angels? So, you should surely be able to resolve ordinary disputes in this life.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit intercede for us in the Presence of the Father. The verses below make this known:
Romans 8:34 “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us Hebrews 7:24-25 “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” 1 John 2:1 “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.” 1 Timothy 2:5
Romans 8:26-27 “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
1 John 2:1-2 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
Hebrews 7:25 “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
4.Baby Baptism vs a Believer’s baptism: Mark 16:16 “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Getting wet never saved anyone. 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Repent means to change your mind about sin, to turn away from sin and towards God, towards righteousness.holiness The only way someone can come to godly repentance is through the Power and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Therefore babies cannot repent. Babies are innocent ibe sight of the Lord. Baptism means to submerge or immerse in water, not sprinkling of water on a baby’s head. Jesus Christ was baptized in the Jordan river by immersion. Baptism is a physical analogy/manifesration of a profound spiritual reality. As renowned Pastor John MacArthur puts it “When you, as a believer, are baptized by immersion into water, you are demonstrating not just the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, but you are demonstrating your union with Christ in that death, burial, and resurrection.” Acts 2:38 says, “Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins,” you say, “Well, does that mean your baptism, the water, washes your sin?” No. When he says repent and be baptized for the remission of sin, he means that baptism is inseparable from salvation, and that’s where it’s demonstrated that your sins have been remitted or forgiven.
Water baptism does not wash away anyone’s sins as the Catholic church believes. Water does not wash away your sins or make you holy. Again, getting wet has never saved anyone. Water Baptism does not secure you in the kingdom of God. It doesn’t justify you in the sight of God. Water Baptism does not provide some ongoing power. All water baptism does is demonstrate your obedience to Christ’s command and give you the joy of obedience and the blessing of obedience to His .Word.
There is nothing in the New Testament about babies being baptized for salvation. There is nothing in the New Testament about salvation apart from personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which comes to one who understands the meaning of the gospel. There is no infant baptism in the Bible whatsoever.
To conclude John MacArthur puts it this way “If you were not baptized according to the New Testament, if you were not immersed in water after a conscious commitment of your life to Jesus Christ after you became saved, then you need to be baptized, period, because whatever you did before was nothing. It was nothing. It’s only for believers; it should be done immediately.”
Acts 10 “They all heard the Word; they believed it; the Spirit fell; they were all baptized. All heard, all believed. The Spirit came on all; they were all baptized.”
Christian baptism is this: somebody believes as a child able to comprehend the gospel or an adult; they repent of their sin; they confess Jesus as Lord; they acknowledge Him as Savior; they are saved; then they are water baptized confessing the saving faith they possess. That is New Testament Christian baptism.
After Jesus saved me through the power of the Holy Spirit last year, I had a strong desire to get baptized almost immediately. I finally possessed saving faith and I wanted to profess to the whole world that I had surrendered my life to Jesus my Lord and Savior, and I was committing to following him for the rest of my life. I had never previously had this desire. Once you are saved, then the Holy Spirit makes you want to obey the commands of Jesus. John 14:15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.”
4.Mortal sins: The Catholic church proposes that there are some sins that are unforgivable which is just not Scriptural. “The Roman Catholic church teaches that salvation can be lost by committing so-called mortal sins and also claims power for itself both to grant and to revoke grace.” It is a direct afront to the saving power of the blood of Jesus. A total heresy! ALL sin is a grave offense to a Holy, Holy, Holy God and results in death unless one is saved and washed clean by the precious blood of Jesus. James 2:10 “For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.” Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Acts 15:10–11 “Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?”
But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they might wonder if Christians can put themselves out of God’s grace by committing some unusually heinous sin that nullifies the divine work of redemption that binds them to the Lord. Tragically, some evangelical churches teach that loss of salvation is possible. But if we were not able by our own power or effort to save ourselves-to free ourselves from the power of sin, to bring ourselves to God, and to make ourselves His children-how could it be that by our own efforts we could nullify the work of grace that God Himself has accomplished in us? Are we more powerful rhan God? This is simply pride and trampling over Jesus’s precious Blood sacrifice..
“If we understand what Christ did on the cross to save us from sin, we understand what it means to be secure in His salvation. If we believe that God loved us so much when we were wretched and ungodly that He sent His Son to die on the cross to bring us to Himself, how could we believe that, after we are saved, His love is not strong enough to keep us saved? If Christ had power to redeem us out of bondage to sin, how could He lack power to keep us redeemed? You as a sinful human won’t give a gift to someone and take it back. What more of our heavenly Father? Salvation is a free gift from God and He will never take it back from us. God doesn’t change, He is the same yesterday, today and forever more and He is a faithful God. Therefore, ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED. Hallelujah!! It took me a while to trust this due ot my catholic upbringing but now i do wholeheartedly because I trust God’s character and His faithfulness to His promises.
Christ, the perfect Priest, offered a perfect sacrifice once and for all to make us perfect and blameless before God the Father. He tore the veil enablihng us to communion with the Father with no restrictions. To deny the security of the born again believer is therefore to deny the sufficiency of the work of Christ. To deny the security of the believer is to misunderstand the heart of God, to misunderstand the gift of Christ, to misunderstand the meaning of the cross, to misunderstand the biblical meaning of salvation. To misunderstand the entire Bible’s message. This is grave.
Even when we sin after we are saved, “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” because in Him “we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” 1 John 1:9; 2:1 “When we sin, our Lord intercedes on our behalf and comes to our defense against Satan and any others who might bring charges against us.” (see Rom. 8:33). “God is able to make all grace abound to you,” Paul assured the believers at Corinth 2 Corinthians. 9:8 “Through our remaining days on earth and throughout all eternity, our gracious Lord will hold us safe in His everlasting love by His everlasting power.”
Therefore, there is nothing as a mortal sin. All sin is mortal aka leads to death and only Christ’s blood saves perfectly and forever. For the catholic church to say that there is a sin not covered by Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross is undermining the excruciating pain that Jesus suffered on the cross for sinners.
Catholics that belief this false doctrine are always under such fear, shame and guilt, remaining in bondage instead of enjoying the freedom and inexplicable joy Jesus has given us.
OYA, WHO THE SON SETS FREE IS FREE INDEED!! Break those chains and bounce on in God’s amazing grace!
5.Divorce: I stayed in an abusive marriage longer than I should have because I was sure I was going to hell if I divorced. I believed God was going to be angry at me and judge me. I believed I would be comiiting adultery if i remarried. The catholic church was a major reason for this awful burdening thought process. Check out my blog post on divorce…” God hates divorce.” for more of this in detailed. The catholic church is responsible for the deaths of so many women who followed this blind doctrine due to fear of the consequences of them divorcing to save their lives. Staying in an abusive marriage with a monster is NOT the daily cross Jesus talked about us carrying. A good Father does not want His Children abused. What fellowship has light with darkness as rhe Word says?
6.Mass: The burdening rituals are simply idolatry. More on this coming soon!
7.The Pope: The epitome of blasphemy against God. He most definitely has the antichrist spirit. Jesus Christ is the only head of the church. Period. More on this coming soon!
Glory be to God forever and always!!! Praise Jesus!!!
